1) Buy a Timex Ironman Watch with the start/lap button on top.  This will allow your mind to be free from counting.  The last lap results will stay on your watch till the next time you swim.  You can use your watch as a badge of honor, and try to improve your distance, time, or both for next time.

2) Keep swim suits, towels, and gear in your car.  Be ready. Like I said, getting to the pool is the biggest obstacle.  After I take the kids to school, I hit the pool.  The emails and phone calls will still be there.  Make your health matter.

3) Track your results.  The iphone application called “Loseit” can track your Swims as well as calories in and calories burned.  Besides myself, others find this method very useful.

4) Enjoy the swim.  G L I D E  till your speed begins to dwindle and remember to push off like a beast.

5) Need Answers? Free your mind by swimming and let your mind work on your problems. Put an object at the bottom of the pool as a reminder what to think about.

6) Check out new places to Swim. “So, does that place have a pool”, you ask.

7) You will love your waterproof MP3 Player.  Get One

8) don’t just watch the swim lane underneath you, pick one of the rows of tie and you ‘ll notice when you drift.
